After schooling, she studied only for one year at the Port Elizabeth Technikon. Afterward, she worked in various countries including England, The U.S., and Israel.

It was her 21st year when she moved overseas for work. At that place, she stayed for almost four years. After four years, she returned to South Africa and worked as an Insurance Broker until 1994.

Alisa Botha is a strong and determined woman whose story will reveal her courage. On the night of 18 December 1994 when she was 22, she got raped by two men at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University South Campus. Instead, after her rape, she was left by the rapist to be dead. Alison Botha’s Neck injury was so deep that she was attacked almost 16 times in her throat where she was stabbed around 30 times in the abdomen. They had injured her so deeply that there was no chance of her to be alive.

But Alison survived and moved to the nearby highway and got a lift from a motorist. The two of her rapists named are Frans du Toit and Theuns Kruger. After which the former got a three-year life sentence and the latter got a year life sentence including 25 years imprisonment.

It was a death & life moment through which she survived and led a life. She has explained her story through the book ” I Have Life”. She also explained things through a movie named ” Alison”.

When you go through the book and movie story, you will see how she had gone through horrifying moments in her life. She becomes the victim of the tragedy and suffers a lot through the things. But instead, she is sharing how she survived through only her belief, choice & gratitude.

Her inner strength and determination are the only things that have captivated the complete South Africa. In 1995, she was awarded the Rotarian Paul Harris Award for her Courage Beyond the Norm. She also became the first Femina Magazine winner,i.e., Winner of the Courage Award and nominated for ‘Port Elizabeth’s Citizen of the Year‘ Moreover, she also got the Council Prestige Award from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University.

She was impacted a lot in her life by the incident. After this, her marriage also gets disturbed. But she took these challenges of her life as the greatest highlights. She shared her story with around 35 countries and loved the people’s views.
